Benson’s Customers Show How Much They Care for Animals in Need

Clifton Park, NY, September 11, 2017:  Benson’s asked. Their customers answered.

After hearing about the thousands of animals in need of food and shelter after the devastating floods, Benson’s customers opened their hearts and wallets to make a big difference. By giving just a dollar or two at the register when shopping at their local Benson’s Pet Centers, this community of pet lovers has raised over $11,000 since Saturday, September 2.

“We’ve been watching the devastation from Harvey for a week now, knowing that the need will continue for weeks, if not months, in Houston and in the surrounding towns and regions. Please join us at Benson’s to do the right thing for animals in need by donating at the register for our Hurricane Harvey Fund.” ~ Ryan Kramer, Owner, Benson’s Pet Center.

100% of the funds raised from this effort will go to the SPCA of Brazoria County, TX.  The SPCA is a no-kill shelter located south of Houston County in one of the hardest-hit areas in the state (many areas in the county remained under evacuation notice through Friday, Sept 8). The shelter is currently caring for well over a thousand animals on both the county fairgrounds and in their facility in Lake Jackson, TX while they wait to be reclaimed.

The first check from the fund for $6,000 was hand-delivered to the shelter by representatives of Rottie Empire Rescue (of Saratoga, NY) on Sunday, September 10. (see the video here on our event page:

The fund drive will continue through September 30.
